Tremor’s Assist in Mortal Kombat 1: A Glitch that Shakes the Game

Some of the latest DLC releases in the game Mortal Kombat 1, including the addition of Tremor as the first DLC Kameo fighter, have caused some obvious game-related issues. Frame data regarding Tremor’s upper assist seems to be incorrect depending on the character he is paired with. This discovery was made by cesium_v, and our own Justin ‘AdaptiveTrigger’ Gordon conducted further tests to confirm these inconsistencies.

According to the game’s frame data, Tremor’s upper assist is listed as -7 on block. However, it turns out that this is only true for two characters in the game, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. For most other characters, the frame data indicates that this move is actually -16. This significant difference raises questions about the intended behavior of Tremor’s assist.

It is worth noting that the game features a mechanic where character selection plus Kameo changes health point values, but it was not known until now that it also affects frame data. The fact that not only do the frame data values differ, but they also change depending on different characters, is unusual for this genre of games.

NetherRealm Studios has not yet addressed this apparent glitch, but it is expected that they will have to fix this issue soon. Although this glitch may not be significant enough to ban Tremor from tournaments or make rule changes, there will likely be discussions if it is not addressed.

Similar issues have been observed in the past, such as with Omni-Man, where combo damage scaling differed between consoles and PC. It appears that Tremor’s upper assist in Mortal Kombat 1 has the potential to become another source of inconsistency in the game.

To provide a clear summary of the frame data inconsistencies, here is an analysis of the results:

    – Sub-Zero: -7
    – Scorpion: -7
    – Kung Lao: -8
    – Liu Kang: -10
    – Nitara: -11
    – Havik: -11
    – Ashrah: -12
    – Kitana: -16
    – Baraka: -16
    – Mileena: -16
    – Tanya: -16
    – Rain: -16
    – Smoke: -16
    – Reptile: -16
    – Li Mei: -16
    – Kenshi: -16
    – Geras: -16
    – Omni-Man: -16
    – Shang Tsung: -16
    – General Shao: -16
    – Sindel: -16
    – Reiko: -16
    – Raiden: -16

While waiting for a response from NetherRealm Studios, it remains to be seen how these inconsistencies will impact the overall gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1.
