Starbreeze, the developer of the highly anticipated third installment of the Payday series, has made a decision to exclude the controversial Denuvo DRM system from the game. The announcement came from SBZ_Almira at Starbreeze, who understood the fans’ concerns regarding Denuvo’s negative impact on PC performance. This change likely resulted from a discussion on Reddit, where fans expressed their disappointment with the presence of anti-piracy software.
Following the Reddit post, all mentions of Denuvo were removed from the Steam store page for Payday 3. This move demonstrates Starbreeze’s commitment to addressing fans’ concerns and ensuring an optimal gaming experience. The decision has brought relief to many fans who were worried about potential performance issues associated with Denuvo.
Payday 3 is set to be released on September 21 on PC (Steam/EGS), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also have access to the game on its release day. Additionally, Starbreeze has announced an extensive schedule of seasonal DLC add-ons for the next 12 months, including new playable characters, skill trees, enemies, weapons, features, and gameplay quality improvements.
The DLC content will be released in four packs, starting with the Syntax Error pack later this year. The subsequent additions, The Boy in Blue, The Land of the Free, and Fear and Greed, are expected to be released within 2024. The pricing for these additional contents has not been revealed yet, but players who do not choose the Payday 3 Gold Edition will have the option to purchase these packs separately.
