iPhone 12 Sales Suspended in France due to Radiation Emission Exceeding Standards

The iPhone is usually sold with multiple generations available at the same time. Although the “12” models have been around for a while, there is still no shortage of customers who choose them, mainly due to their lower price. However, Apple is facing a problem in the French market. The local agency has examined the radiation emitted by the iPhone 12 and found that it exceeds the established standards. As a result, the sale of this model has been suspended.

The French agency ANFR, responsible for regulating radio frequencies, discovered that the iPhone 12 generates a higher amount of radiation than the permitted standards. The electromagnetic energy absorption in the tested sample was measured at 5.74 W per kilogram, when the smartphone is held in hand or in a pocket. European standards require a maximum absorption level of 4 W per kilogram in such circumstances.

Apple has been instructed to suspend the sale of the iPhone 12 in the French market. According to the local authorities, the reduction of absorption levels can be accomplished through a software update. Apple has two weeks to make the necessary correction. Otherwise, the smartphone may not return to the French market.

It should be noted that despite the existing standards for electromagnetic radiation emission, studies do not indicate any negative health effects associated with the use of mobile phones. Therefore, the exceeding of the standards by Apple’s smartphone is unlikely to cause any harm to users.
