HBO Max, the popular streaming platform, is planning to make further changes to its service. This spring, HBO Max will be replaced by a new platform called Max. During the rebranding, Max promises even more content and a broader range of offerings, but will we have to pay a higher price for it?
Max is a product that has emerged from the merger of two powerful players in the market – HBO Max and Discovery+. This combined force will bring users an even richer offering but will likely result in price increases and the introduction of new subscription plans, both with and without ads. The Max service debuted in the US in May of last year and is expected to enter over 20 new markets, including Poland, by 2024.
In the United States, the basic Max package with ads costs $9.99 per month, which is approximately 40.33 Polish zlotys. At this price, users have access to the service on two devices in HD quality. For more demanding users, there are also more expensive plans available, ranging from $15.99 per month to $19.99 per month, offering better picture quality in 4K, Dolby Atmos sound, and the ability to download up to 100 titles to a device.
At this time, we do not yet know the specific prices for the Polish and European markets. Currently, an HBO Max subscription in Poland costs 29.99 Polish zlotys per month or 234.99 Polish zlotys per year, but there are no cheaper options available with ads.
The rebranding to the Max platform may bring new possibilities and a greater choice of content for Polish users, but it’s worth being prepared for possible price increases. It will be interesting to observe how the market reacts to these changes and whether Max will become another hit among streaming platforms.
